About

Vermont: Frenetic Not.

Slow down.  Breathe deep.  Listen with your heart.

In a frenzied world, The Green Mountain State breathes  slow and deep.

Environmental Harmony pulses in melting snow and granite filtered waters.  Through ancient hills, Rivers and streams carry its lifeblood and cleanse its spirit.

In morning mountain mist:

un-graspable grace.

saturates flesh

you and me

soil and tree

lose distinction

creation is one.

Vermont Veritas is dedicated to bring the Prayer of the Monks of the Weston Priory and the Spirituality of the Green Mountains to a new generation.  I have been coming to Weston for personal retreat time with God for 30 years.  (note: Vermont Veritas is “not” affiliated with the Weston Priory)

Environmental harmony as essential for the realization of Peace and Justice on Planet Earth is united to the Christian call to live compassion deeply.  In a frenzied world the Green Mountain State offers a slower place to listen to nature.  Creativity is awakened in the human spirit and we are able to listen more deeply to the spirit within.

Have no doubt this journey is not without struggle.  Indeed in striving to live integrity we discover the need for balance and harmony.  ”Oh humanity resolve conflict peaceably.”  Vermont is not an easy state for people.  The abounding Mountains and Valleys  make getting around a challenge.  Winter weather is fun to ski in but a hassle to live in.  Convenience is sacrificed for the sake of abundant nature.  And Still,  It holds a sense of sacred space.

Before one can get esoteric about Spirituality one has to reconnect directly with with the reality of daily necessities.  Vermont Veritas like most homes around here have their own well for water, their own septic system and no trash collection.  We have to separate out all the typical recycling from our trash and also waste food is separated meat and milk from compostable veggies and grains.  Whatever cannot be used on sight is than brought to the local transfer station. And we use a wood burning stove as our primary heat source.   Keeping the fire going is a day in and day out activity.   For myself, after 25 years living in Boston and having all the modern conveniences and services provided, dealing daily with all this awakens an ecological sensibility and becomes part of my connection to the Spiritual.  So Spirituality is not disconnected from Earth or Nature.
